Instruments

The recorder consort that we play on, is a family of instruments in different sizes especially built to be played together. They range from the tiny soprano in c" to the big sub-bass in F. They are pitched at a'=466 Hz and are tuned in mean-tone temperament. Each instrument has a range of an octave and a sixth.

The instruments are copies built after originals from the 16th century, the Golden Age of the recorder consort. The original instruments were probably made by the Bassano's, a Venetian family of wind players and instrument makers, who relocated to England at the request of King Henry VIII.

Our copies are built by recorder maker Adriana Breukink. If you would like to know more about the instruments, do not hesitate to contact us or visit the website of Adriana Breukink.
